Maccabi traveled to Valencia for the 30th and final round of the EuroLeague’s regular season. Roll: “We’ll have to get better”. Coach Spahija: “We know that we can’t qualify but that doesn’t mean that we will give up”
“We’re fighting until the last second, for the entire 40 minutes. That’ll be the key to our game and that’s what we’ll continue to do”, said Michael Roll. “of course we didn’t want our EuroLeague season to end; we want to play in as many games as possible. That’s how things are and we’ll have to accept it and to get better”.
“We want to continue and fight”, added coach Neven Spahija. “I know we’re struggling lately, but to continue and fight is the only way for a professional team – to fight and believe that tomorrow will be better. We know that we can’t qualify but we want to compete and use it for our benefit, we know that we can’t but that doesn’t mean that we will give up”.
“I didn’t like what happened in the derby, especially when you’re losing such an important game for us and for the fans”, coach Spahija admitted. “We shouldn’t be depressed, we need to remain positive. I take most of the pressure upon myself, I’m not waiting for the fans media or management will do it. I don’t feel any additional pressure”.
Maccabi won their last game against Valencia at the Menora Mivtachim arena (94:91). Pierre Jackson who finished that game with 21 points, didn’t join the team so that he can continue rehab (back and leg), DeShaun Thomas added 20, Artsiom Parakhouski had 14 and Norris Cole added 12.
