Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is one win away from securing its place in the Euroleague playoffs. The Yellows defeated their long-time rival Panathinaikos 95:83 in Athens and will have a chance to secure a ticket to the top 8 on Thursday when they host Villeurbanne.
The game was balanced at the start, but a 17:3 Maccabi run late in the second quarter pushed the Israeli champions ahead, mainly thanks to Derrick Williams’s 17 points. Scottie Wilbekin also shined with nine assists from a total of 28 the team had.
With this win in Greece, Avi Even’s players are now promised to finish the regular season with at least a 50% record.
