A disappointing evening at Menora Mivtachim ended with the yellows’ first Euroleague loss this season (63:75). Wilbekin led Maccabi’s scorers with 18 points, Lessort scored 16 on his debut
It wasn’t a night to remember at Menora Mivtachim, as Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv recorded its first Euroleague loss of the season – 63:75 to Red Star Belgrade. Scottie Wilbekin’s 18 points did not help the yellows that trailed throughout the whole game.
From start to finish, everything went wrong for the Israeli champs, while the Serbian opponents arrived very sharp and prepared and made it difficult for Maccabi to create any organized attacks. On the bright side, the newly signed French center Mathias Lessort scored 16 points on his debut.
The yellows have very little time to recover from this loss. On Saturday, Hapoel Haifa will face them, again at Menora Mivtachim, in the Israeli league opening matchday.
